Police mum after nabbing biker fugitive

February 3rd, 2012

Another interesting twisting in the on-going saga of London, Ont.’s biker battles. Police recently scooped up fugitive Thomas Harmsworth, who was involved in a battle-to-the-almost-death with Wayne Kellestine in 1999. Then, for reasons that remain unclear, they said nothing.

Cops may have faked biker suicide, lawyer says

February 1st, 2012

It’s a strange accusation – that police faked the suicide of an Ontario Nomad in Montreal so that the Hells Angel could start a new life somewhere else. It wouldn’t be the strangest thing to happen in the Quebec biker world, but it’s up there.

Inner demons: Ontario Nomad takes own life

January 28th, 2012

For all the talk about freedom, there seems something self-destructive about many outlaw bikers. It would be interesting if someone did a study of suicide rates. I’d bet they’re far higher than for the general population. What got me thinking of this is the apparent suicide of an Ontario Nomad in a Quebec jail cell.

How else can you get Peewee Herman and Bob Dylan on the same stage?

January 26th, 2012

Promoters are talking about a Sturgis North in Vernon, B.C. Should we be surprised that the organizer’s not telling the Hells Angels they can’t come? That said, his quote that he is against “segregation” is a little tough to digest. The Sturgis rally drew Bob Dylan and Peewee Herman, which is impressive in a particularly strange way.

Bail for accused in London shooting

January 21st, 2012

I’m not so sure this will settle things down. Bail has been granted to one of the men arrested after the shooting of a London, Ont. Hells Angel and a female friend last week. Funny how bail works. Lorne Campbell of the Toronto Hells Angels didn’t get bail while waiting four years for his trial on charges not involving violence (criminal organization and drug conspiracy).

Up-close hit in high-end B.C. eaterie

January 20th, 2012

It was like a scene out the The Godfather with a West Coast B.C. flavour, as a gunman ended the life of a longtime mobster. Thirty-six years old seems old for this milieu, where the Hells Angels are only a part of the ever-changing mix.

Brampton man sought in FU crew roundup in London

January 20th, 2012

A Brampton man is wanted by London, Ont. police a week after a full-patch Hells Angel and a female companion were shot near the bikers’ clubhouse. Typical 21st century violence. Random, sloppy, public and cowardly.

January 17th, 2012

The men charged with shooting a London, Ont. Hells Angel last week have been hit with more gun charges. This will get worse before it gets better.
